Total sales of petroleum products in Cyprus in 2025 increased by 4.8% compared to 2024. Such data were published by the country’s Statistical Service. The growth is explained by increased fuel consumption in key sectors of the economy, including transport, construction, and tourism, which demonstrated steady recovery and growth in 2025.

Fuel supplies for ships increased especially noticeably, rising by as much as 90.3%, as well as for aviation—by 13%. Positive dynamics were also recorded in kerosene sales (+6.1%) and heating fuel, demand for which increased by 5.8%. Sales of liquefied gas grew by 3.7%, gasoline by 3.5%, and diesel fuel by 2.7%.

Decline in demand for fuel oil

Against the backdrop of overall market growth, a reduction in sales of certain types of fuel is observed. Sales of light fuel oil decreased by 52.9%, and heavy fuel oil by 12%. Experts attribute this to a gradual transition to more environmentally friendly energy sources and changes in the structure of consumption in industry and energy.

Sales through filling stations

Sales of petroleum products through filling stations in 2025 increased by 3% compared to the previous year. This reflects the growth in the number of vehicles and the active use of personal transport, especially during the tourist season and in large cities.

Significant growth was shown by asphalt sales, which increased by 51.4%, heating fuel with growth of 10.9%, gasoline—by 7.5%, and diesel fuel—by 6.1%.

At the same time, in December a sharp decline was recorded in sales of light and heavy fuel oil by 82.8% and 34.9%, respectively, as well as a slight decrease in demand for liquefied gas by 0.6%.

December compared to November

If December 2025 is compared with November 2025, total sales of petroleum products increased by 2.8%. Gasoline sales increased by 9.7%, and diesel fuel by 2.1%. At the same time, fuel supplies for aviation decreased by 18.3%, and for ships by 9.6%, which is associated with a seasonal decline in transport activity.

Fuel stocks by the end of the year

Total petroleum product stocks in Cyprus at the end of December 2025 decreased by 7.6% compared to the end of the previous month. This decrease reflects a high level of fuel consumption at the end of the year and active economic activity characteristic of the winter period.
