Return of the Coupe: a new chapter in S-Class history
The idea of reviving the two-door S-Class is gaining popularity again. It is worth recalling that the coupe and cabriolet versions based on the previous generation were produced from 2014 to 2020 and were considered among the most elegant models in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. However, despite their impressive design and technology, demand remained relatively low.
Today, the situation may change. Electrification, new design approaches, and growing interest in exclusive models create favorable conditions for the return of a luxury coupe. Modern renderings show what such a car could look like if the company decides to take this step.
Design of the future: bold yet recognizable
One of the most discussed design concepts was created by artist Nikita Chuiko. His interpretation combines classic S-Class coupe proportions with elements of the brand’s new design language. The car remains recognizable but gains a more futuristic character.
The front end features slim headlights with a signature star-shaped lighting pattern—an element already widely used in the brand’s latest models. At the same time, the large grille, inspired by electric vehicles, causes mixed reactions. While it works well for crossovers, it may appear excessive on an elegant coupe.
The side profile is clean and minimalistic, with long doors and smooth transitions. The rear looks modern thanks to thin LED taillights and a subtle diffuser that adds a sporty touch without unnecessary aggression.
Technology and platform future
The next-generation S-Class is expected to follow a dual strategy similar to the one already implemented in the BMW 7 Series. This means buyers will likely be offered both traditional internal combustion engine versions and fully electric variants. Such an approach could lead to the gradual phase-out of the Mercedes EQS after its current lifecycle ends.

Significant progress is also expected in autonomous driving, digital interfaces, and interior personalization. Mercedes-Benz is already actively integrating artificial intelligence systems that adapt the vehicle to both driver and passengers.
