The new Lexus ES opens a new chapter in the history of one of the Japanese brand’s best-known models. For the first time, the model is offered not only as a hybrid but also in a fully electric version, reflecting Lexus’s strategy of expanding its range of electrified vehicles. The main design concept is “Clean Tech x Elegance” — a combination of modern technology and the elegance that has distinguished the ES for more than three decades.
According to Lexus International Design General Manager Yahiko Kumai, the specialists did not simply evolve the previous generation. Instead, the team first created an almost ideal vision of the car’s design and only then adapted it to the requirements of mass production. The new ES is built on an upgraded K platform, which has been refined to accommodate both hybrid and fully electric powertrains.
When developing the proportions, the designers used the principle of the “golden ratio,” seeking to achieve a harmonious balance between the body length, wheelbase, width and height. As a result, the sedan has gained a dynamic appearance while retaining an interior spacious enough to rival some SUVs.
New design and improved aerodynamics
The exterior of the new Lexus ES further develops the brand’s signature Spindle Grille concept, integrating it more naturally into the front fascia. The front of the car retains the low and wide silhouette of a premium sedan. One of the main new features is the headlights with a dual “L”-shaped light signature. This element is intended to become one of the distinctive visual features of Lexus electrified models.
Considerable attention has been paid to aerodynamics. Specially shaped body surfaces, a completely flat underbody, pronounced rear haunches and a carefully designed rear section help improve airflow and increase the car’s energy efficiency. At the rear, the vehicle features a continuous LED light bar with the LEXUS logo integrated into it. It visually emphasizes the width of the body and gives the car a more planted appearance on the road.

Minimalist interior and technology
Inside, Lexus continues its focus on minimalism, with the main emphasis placed on comfort, ergonomics and a sense of spaciousness. The dashboard and other surfaces have been cleared of unnecessary elements, while some functions use an unusual Hidden Switches solution. These controls are almost invisible when the vehicle is switched off and illuminate only after it is started. In this way, Lexus has managed to preserve the familiar feel of physical buttons without cluttering the interior design.
The premium character of the interior is emphasized by decorative elements with a bamboo-like texture and illuminated surfaces that create a warmer atmosphere. The new seats also appear visually more compact, making the cabin feel even more spacious. The driver’s seating position follows Lexus’s signature Tazuna concept: the main controls are positioned so that the driver can use them with minimal distraction from the road.
The new Lexus ES combines electrified powertrains, modern technology, premium build quality and a new design. The model is intended to secure a prominent position among modern luxury sedans and become one of the representatives of the next stage in Lexus’s development. For customers in Cyprus, the new model is already available to order.
