The new Toyota RAV4 made its debut in Cyprus, where Toyota staged a true technological showcase. The event took place at the modern Pavilion in Nicosia, bringing together journalists, partners, corporate clients, and the lucky customers who placed pre-orders without seeing the vehicle in person. The evening was more than just a presentation — it was a demonstration of the brand’s new philosophy.
How the RAV4 Changed the SUV World
The first RAV4 was launched in 1994 and effectively created the compact crossover segment. Toyota combined the practicality of an estate car, the off-road capability of an SUV, and the convenience of a hatchback. Since then, more than 15 million units have been sold worldwide. Buyers value the model for its reliability, spacious interior, and ability to handle both family duties in the city and weekend trips into nature with equal ease. The sixth generation, unveiled in Cyprus, takes things further by enhancing the dynamic design, introducing an entirely new digital platform, and focusing on hybrid technology without losing its true SUV character.
The First Model to Use the Arene Software Architecture
This is the first Toyota vehicle built on the Arene software architecture. In simple terms, features that once required a visit to the dealership can now be updated over the air. The car functions much like a smartphone, with systems that can be improved remotely. In practice, this means that after several years of ownership, the RAV4 may receive new safety algorithms, a more intuitive multimedia interface, and even updated hybrid powertrain modes.
Inside, drivers are greeted by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a central touchscreen measuring up to 12.9 inches. Everything is designed to minimize distraction, with large icons, logical menus, and improved ergonomics. At the same time, the latest generation of Toyota T-Mate and Toyota Safety Sense makes its debut. Blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and lane keeping systems have become even smarter, adapting to driving styles and road conditions in Cyprus, from narrow streets to busy motorways.

Multi-Path Strategy: Choose Your Level of Electrification
Toyota does not force all customers to switch to fully electric vehicles. Instead, it offers several electrification options as part of its multi-path strategy. The new RAV4 in Cyprus is available with two types of hybrid powertrains: a conventional Hybrid and a Plug-in Hybrid.
The standard Hybrid is ideal for drivers who do not want to think about charging. The vehicle automatically manages energy, recharging the battery during braking and engine operation. Fuel consumption remains very low, while range stays high. In Cyprus, where distances between cities are relatively short and traffic is often heavy, this is the most hassle-free option.
The Plug-in Hybrid goes a step further. Its battery can be charged from a household outlet or a public charging station. The electric range is sufficient for most daily trips around the city and suburbs, allowing drivers to use almost no petrol. When longer journeys are needed, such as trips to the mountains or to the opposite end of the island, the petrol engine seamlessly takes over. In addition, the Plug-in Hybrid charges faster and delivers greater power, which is especially noticeable during spirited driving. Both technologies are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, depending on the trim level.
Prices and Trim Levels in Cyprus
On the Cypriot market, the new RAV4 is offered in Active, Style, Lounge, and sporty GR SPORT versions. The starting price for the RAV4 2.5 Hybrid Active 2WD is €40,900. Buyers interested in the Plug-in Hybrid should expect prices from €48,900. The top-of-the-range GR SPORT AWD, inspired by Toyota Gazoo Racing, costs more but delivers maximum performance and a highly distinctive appearance.
Orders are already open. The first hybrid vehicles will be delivered to customers in May and June 2026, while Plug-in Hybrid owners will need to wait until September. For anyone seeking a modern SUV with advanced electrification and a fully digital cabin, the sixth-generation RAV4 is a significant step forward over its predecessor.
A wide selection of vehicles is available on the DOMCar portal.
