Cyprus Public Transport has updated the PAME app, adding new features designed to make public transport in Cyprus more convenient and easier to use.
The PAME update was introduced ahead of European Mobility Week, which runs from September 16 to 22, 2026. This year’s theme is “Mobility for Everyone”, with an emphasis on intergenerational fairness. The week will traditionally conclude with Car-Free Day on September 22.
What’s new
Using the app, passengers can:
- plan a route from their current location to their destination;
- check in real time when the required bus will arrive;
- track the bus directly on the map;
- view available route options and journey times;
- find nearby bus stops;
- open the full timetable for a specific route;
- plan a journey based on the time by which they need to arrive at their destination;
- top up the balance of their Motion Card.
The latest version of PAME is available free of charge in English, Greek, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
Project details
PAME was first launched in 2020, when Cyprus Public Transport began operating in Nicosia. Initially, the app offered only basic functions. In 2026, the company made a strategic decision to place greater emphasis on passenger convenience and expand the app’s digital capabilities. In developing the new features, the company took user feedback and needs into account and plans to continue releasing updates.
Today, Cyprus Public Transport operates in Nicosia and Larnaca. According to the company’s latest figures, its fleet consists of 250 buses, its network includes 120 routes, and annual passenger numbers exceed 12.5 million. On average, around 2,500 trips are operated each day.
At the same time, the company continues to publish route and timetable changes. For example, in September 2026, the operator updated information on Route 12 and the timetables of several other routes.
Cyprus continues to upgrade its transport infrastructure
According to Marina Ioannou Hasapi, Director General of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, the government’s goal is to create a system in which buses, walking routes and cycling infrastructure complement one another. As part of the public transport development programme, the following measures are planned:
- the creation of Park and Ride facilities and transport interchanges;
- the development of dedicated bus lanes;
- the expansion of cycling infrastructure;
- the construction of safer pavements and pedestrian crossings;
- the installation of at least 3,000 new and upgraded bus stops;
- the modernisation of central bus stations across Cyprus.
At the same time, infrastructure alone is not enough. Passengers also need regular and reliable services, clear information and convenient connections. This is where digital tools such as PAME can significantly simplify travel.
