The transport company Cyprus Public Transport announced a temporary suspension of the Pame Express service. The restriction comes into effect on Monday, March 23, 2026. The reason for this decision is the ongoing shortage of public transport drivers, which in recent months has increasingly affected the operation of the capital’s bus network.
The route is part of the Park & Ride system and connects the intercept parking lot near the GSP stadium with the central districts of Nicosia. This service was created so that residents and visitors of the capital could leave their cars on the outskirts of the city and continue their journey to the center by public transport, reducing road congestion and the number of traffic jams.
The reason for the cancellation — an acute shortage of drivers
In the official statement of the carrier, it is emphasized that the constant shortage of available drivers forces the company to temporarily suspend the operation of Pame Express, despite the measures previously taken to preserve the route. In recent years, transport companies in Cyprus have faced the problem of attracting personnel, especially bus drivers, which is associated with growing requirements for the profession and a limited number of specialists in the labor market.
According to company representatives, the decision to suspend the service was difficult, since the route was popular among residents of the capital who work in the city center. However, the current staffing situation does not allow maintaining the previous level of service.

Apologies to passengers and search for a solution
Cyprus Public Transport issued an official apology to passengers for the inconvenience caused. The statement notes that the current situation negatively affects the entire operation of the transport system and requires temporary measures.
The carrier assures that it continues to actively seek a solution to the problem and is considering various options for restoring the service. Among the possible steps are the recruitment of new employees, revision of schedules, and route optimization.
When the Park & Ride service may return
Pame Express is considered an important part of the sustainable mobility strategy in Nicosia. The Park & Ride system helps reduce the flow of cars in the city center, improve the environmental situation, and make movement around the capital more convenient.
Representatives of the carrier emphasized that they are making every effort to resume the operation of the route as soon as possible. As soon as the problem with the shortage of drivers is partially resolved, the Pame Express service is planned to return to the line, as it remains an important element of the city’s transport infrastructure.
