Ferrari has officially unveiled its first fully electric production vehicle — the Ferrari Luce. The new model has become one of the most talked-about projects in the premium automotive industry, as the Italian marque has abandoned the traditional internal combustion engine for the first time and fundamentally reimagined its design philosophy.
The new EV is revolutionary in almost every aspect, from its exterior styling and body architecture to its interior technology and powertrain sound design. Moreover, the Luce is the first Ferrari developed with the involvement of LoveFrom, the design studio founded by former Apple Chief Design Officer Jony Ive and industrial designer Marc Newson, both renowned for their work on Apple products.
Ferrari Abandons the Traditional Supercar Formula
The biggest surprise is the vehicle’s overall concept. The Ferrari Luce no longer resembles the low-slung coupes traditionally associated with Maranello. Instead, the newcomer is a tall five-door hatchback with crossover-inspired elements and distinctive rear-hinged back doors.
For Ferrari, this represents a radical shift. The company has chosen to focus not only on performance but also on everyday practicality, comfort, and advanced technology. The vehicle features increased ground clearance, a spacious cabin, and a more versatile body architecture.
Despite its minimalist and unusually clean design, the Luce still incorporates visual references to classic Ferrari models. This is particularly evident at the rear, where four circular taillights evoke memories of the legendary Ferrari 360 Modena and Ferrari 458 Italia. Another standout feature is the largest wheel setup ever fitted to a Ferrari production car, with 23-inch wheels at the front and 24-inch wheels at the rear.

Ferrari Luce Interior Inspired by Apple Technology
The cabin of the new Ferrari looks dramatically different from previous models. Inside, touchscreen surfaces, digital interfaces, and physical controls are combined in a modern and intuitive layout. Engineers decided to retain Ferrari’s signature steering-wheel-mounted controls, allowing drivers to adjust torque delivery and acceleration characteristics. Five different powertrain settings are available.
The interior also features compact roof-mounted control switches and a dedicated touchscreen panel for rear passengers. Premium materials such as aluminium and Gorilla Glass—well known from Apple devices—are used throughout the cabin.
Ferrari Creates an Artificial Soundtrack for Its EV
One of the most unusual features of the Ferrari Luce is its artificial sound-generation system. The vehicle is equipped with 21 speakers that create a unique soundtrack for the electric powertrain. The system analyses real vibrations from rotating components and amplifies the most pleasing frequencies to produce an emotional and engaging sound experience.
Drivers can also deactivate the system entirely and enjoy complete silence while driving. Industry experts are already describing the technology as one of the most advanced in the electric supercar segment, as Ferrari has sought to preserve the emotional aspect of driving that has defined the brand for decades.
More Than 1,000 Horsepower and a 530 km Range
The Ferrari Luce is powered by a four-motor electric drivetrain. Each wheel is equipped with its own electric motor, providing intelligent all-wheel drive and extremely precise torque distribution. The system delivers a combined output of 1,035 horsepower. The EV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in only 6.8 seconds.
With a top speed of 310 km/h, the Ferrari Luce ranks among the fastest electric vehicles in the world. Its 122 kWh battery pack is integrated into the vehicle’s structural architecture, increasing bending rigidity by 25% and torsional rigidity by 35% compared with previous four-seat Ferrari models. The vehicle offers a driving range of up to 530 kilometres, while ultra-fast charging capability of up to 350 kW significantly reduces charging times.
When Will the Ferrari Luce Go on Sale?
Order books for the Ferrari Luce are expected to open in Europe towards the end of 2026. The anticipated starting price is approximately €550,000. Automotive industry experts believe the arrival of the Luce will mark a major milestone in the transformation of Ferrari and the luxury supercar segment as a whole.
Even the most traditional sports-car manufacturers are gradually embracing electrification as environmental regulations become stricter and demand for advanced mobility solutions continues to grow. Analysts believe the Ferrari Luce could become a direct competitor to electric models from Porsche and Tesla, as well as future EVs from Lamborghini and McLaren.
