The Cyprus Department of Road Transport announced the recall of another batch of six vehicles that were entered in the second week of 2026 into the European rapid alert system Safety Gate. These are vehicles that pose a risk to life and health, including the possibility of fire and injury. Safety Gate is the official European Union platform for monitoring dangerous non-food products, and data from it automatically become grounds for mandatory measures at the national level.
The authority has addressed all market participants—manufacturers, official representatives, importers, distributors, and sellers—with a requirement to immediately notify the Department if such products were or remain on sale within the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. Under current European and Cypriot legislation, economic operators are obliged to ensure the complete withdrawal of such vehicles and components from the market.
What car and motorcycle owners should do
Consumers who already own the specified cars, motorcycles, or individual components are strongly advised to contact the manufacturer or an official dealer as soon as possible to receive further instructions. In cases involving dangerous parts, the authorities advise immediately discontinuing their use and, if possible, returning the product to the seller with mandatory notification of the reason for the return.
If a seller, importer, or manufacturer’s representative refuses to comply with the consumer’s lawful requirements, the vehicle owner has the right to submit a written complaint through the official website of the Cyprus Consumer Protection Service. This is particularly relevant amid increased EU oversight of transport safety in 2025–2026.

Which vehicles have been deemed dangerous
The recall list includes Honda CBR600R motorcycles with a number of European type approvals e4168/201300178, manufactured during an unspecified period. According to Safety Gate data, their operation may lead to fire and serious injuries.
Passenger cars Alfa Romeo Tonale in MHEV and PHEV versions, produced from late January to July 2023, are also subject to the recall. The specified vehicles with certain VIN ranges may pose a risk of injury to drivers and passengers due to potential defects in safety systems.
Ford Ranger vehicles manufactured between 1998 and 2002 are mentioned separately. Despite the age of the models, they remain in operation, and the identified risks make their use potentially dangerous.
The authorities also expressed serious concern over Bentley Bentayga Hybrid vehicles produced from March to November 2023. In this case, the main threat identified is the risk of fire, which is particularly critical for hybrid powertrains.
The list also includes all batches of Addbike electric bicycles of various modifications, as inspections revealed a risk of injury during use. The list is concluded by Renault Trucks D ZE and DWID E ZE trucks produced from August 2023 to February 2025, for which there is a possibility of fire.
Where to seek information
For additional information, vehicle owners can contact the Cyprus Department of Road Transport directly or send an inquiry by email to recalls@rtd.mcw.gov.cy. Experts note that in 2026, oversight of vehicle recalls in the EU will only intensify, so timely action will help avoid fines, accidents, and threats to life.
