Top 10 Best Supercars and Hypercars in the World
First of all, it is worth noting that the concepts of "supercar" and "hypercar" are quite blurred. There is no specific threshold from which one can start considering a car a supercar, and then a hypercar. It will be enough for us that the cars listed below have impressive characteristics combined with excellent "looks". So, let's go ahead and admire!
Bugatti Chiron
Bugatti can boast one of the largest lineups of supercars and hypercars. Among them, Chiron must be highlighted - it is the proud successor to the famous Veyron, which came after it and became the "ancestor" of many other models.
Indeed, the concept of the car turned out to be very successful. The lightweight and powerful "filling" provided the opportunity to reach a speed of 443 km/h. At the same time, the W16 engine with turbocharging produces a power of 1500 hp at 6000 rpm. The car is capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in about 2.5 seconds.
The design is also impressive - the beauty of Chiron looks as it should for a hypercar. Conciseness is combined in it with an amazing aerodynamic form. It is planned that a limited series of 500 cars will be released. The base model costs 2.5 million euros and may be higher depending on the buyer's requests.
Bugatti Bolide
That very "successor" of the Chiron model, externally very different, but inside - still powerful and swift. Bugatti Bolide has an engine power of 1850 hp when using racing fuel. The beastly engine can accelerate the hypercar to 499 km/h, but this is only the manufacturer's assumed figure. During testing, the car showed slightly lower values. But still, exceeding 400 km/h is already a serious claim to be one of the coolest supercars.
Interestingly, the design is very different from the "Chiron": a carbon fiber body with aerodynamic elements excites the imagination. Looking at Bugatti Bolide, it is hard to believe that this is a car from real life, not from racing computer games.
The number of units is very limited - only 40 pieces. So, it's not surprising that the minimum price for Bugatti Bolide was $4.7 million.
McLaren Speedtail
Premium appearance and powerful "filling" - this is the pride of McLaren called Speedtail. The model has impressive technical characteristics and an original exterior, reminiscent of a flying at supersonic speed drop. Interestingly, the cabin features an original seat layout: the driver's seat is installed in front and in the center, while two passenger seats are located behind.
So, this hybrid combines a V8 turbocharged engine and an electric motor. Their combined power is 1050 hp, allowing the supercar to reach a speed of 403 km/h. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.
McLaren Speedtail will be released in a limited "edition" of 106 units, which determines its high price. It exceeds 2 million euros and depends on the car's equipment.
Aston Martin Valkyrie
Another hybrid hypercar that stands out for its lightness and ability to accelerate rapidly. It takes about 2.5 seconds for Aston Martin Valkyrie to accelerate to 100 km/h! This is possible thanks to the hybrid engine with a total power of 1176 hp.
By the way, this is indeed one of the lightest hypercars - it weighs only 1030 kg! The carbon fiber body with aerodynamic elements allows reaching a very high speed - over 400 km/h. The cabin has two seats, each with upward-opening doors.
The total number of units is 175, and the starting price for them is $3.2 million. There is information that all cars have already been sold out by pre-order.
Koenigsegg One:1
The philosophy of the entire model created by the Swedish company Koenigsegg is hidden in its name. The point is that for every 1 kg of car weight, according to the designers' idea, there should be as many horsepower (to be precise, 0.99974 hp per 1 kg). The concept works so that lightness allows the supercar, with its low weight and not the most powerful engine (compared to other cars in our rating), to develop an impressive speed.
Indeed, the Koenigsegg One:1 accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.6 s, and the maximum claimed speed is 430 km/h. At the same time, as we have already understood, the weight and power coincide and amount to 1360 hp (and kg).
Interestingly, there is a quite large spoiler installed at the rear. For modern hypercars, this is a rarity. Nevertheless, Koenigsegg decided to recall and emphasize traditions. Only 7 units were produced, and each of them costs more than 2 million dollars.
Koenigsegg Jesko Absolute
The "younger brother" of the previous model, which managed to surpass the above-mentioned speed records. Thus, the 5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine can produce 1622 hp on racing fuel and accelerate to 483 km/h. The manufacturer claims that under special conditions, the Jesko Absolute will exceed the 530 km/h mark, but such a record has not yet been recorded.
Also, Koenigsegg managed to achieve an impressively low weight of the car - only 1290 kg. Thanks to this, the supercar accelerates very quickly and at the same time holds the speed excellently. The streamlined and stylish body emphasizes the status and capabilities of the car.
A total of 125 units will be produced at a price starting from 3 million dollars. As it is known, more than ¾ are already sold out.
Hennessey Venom GT
This car regularly appears in various rankings. It's not surprising at all: it has impressive technical characteristics, excellent finish, and limited "edition". All this makes it unique and desirable for fans of coolness and speed.
The Hennessey Venom GT is equipped with a V8 engine with colossal power - 1842 hp. From a standstill (that is, to a hundred), it takes 2.4 s, and it reaches speeds of 300 km/h in 13.63 s. Interestingly, this is one of the lightest hypercars, as the Venom GT weighs only 1 ton.
The series of cool cars is very small - only 24 units. And all of them have already been sold out, despite the very high price starting from 2.1 million dollars.
SSC Tuatara
Another regular in the rankings for coolness, speed, and expensiveness. Tuatara from the English "Shelby" has become an icon of what is called luxury in every sense of the word - from technical characteristics to extraordinary exterior.
The V8 turbocharged engine allows the SSC Tuatara to reach an impressive speed of 455 km/h. Moreover, the car accelerates to 100 km/h very quickly - in just 2.5 seconds. The seven-speed automatic transmission allows not only fast but also comfortable driving in this luxurious hypercar.
SSC Tuatara has a limited production of 100 units. The price for the cool supercar starts from 2 million dollars.
Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss
Our ranking could not do without the handsome Mercedes, which may concede in terms of speed characteristics to all other contenders, but in comfort and style surpasses them several times. The SLR Stirling Moss has an impressive design without a windshield, which allowed organically combining the exterior and interior.
It should be noted that the SLR Stirling Moss is the fastest among all other Mercedes models. It reaches a speed of 350 km/h with an engine power of 650 hp. And it reaches speeds of 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
A total of 75 units of the SLR Stirling Moss were produced, each car costing at least 1.2 million dollars. Production ceased quite a long time ago - in 2010.
Lotus Evija
The only one in our selection who can boast of environmental friendliness (that is, the absence of a gasoline engine) is the Lotus Evija, released in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering and Geely. This is one of the few electric hypercars today that can show a speed of over 320 km/h.
Each wheel is equipped with one electric motor with a power of 500 hp. That is, the total power will be 2000 hp, which is a lot. The only downside to electric motors is that at high speeds, they quickly discharge, but Lotus claims: a solution to this problem will be ready soon.
The production is limited to 130 units at a price starting from 2 million dollars. Nothing surprising. In this parameter, the Lotus Evija is on par with the other cars in our selection.
